Annual rainfall and seasonality
Annual rainfall (long term average=360 mm) occurs mostly throughout the year except the summer season (July-September period). Precipitation occurs as snow in winter and rain in the remaining period. Late spring and early summer rainfalls are particularly catastrophic. Since the area has quite high altitude compared to meteo station site, the precipitation in the SIP site might be significantly high (400 mm). Evaporation is up to 1000 mm annually. Below 350 mm annual rainfall, the risk of crop failure is high.
