Repeated Monitoring

(visual and measuring):

  • Soil surface assessment: measuring organic matter content, porosity, crusting/surface etc.
  • Crop characteristics: Throughout the SIP and control field, crop type and their abundance will be determined by visual inspection and probably by photographic image analysis techniques.
  • Mulch cover fraction: digital analysis using 1 m2 frames at sample locations.
  • Crop growth and health characteristics. Visual expertise assessment.
  • Surface roughness observations in selected points.
  • Monitoring of applied irrigation amounts.
  • Monitoring of soil moisture periodically by direct measurements.
