Expected effects

Gypsum contains calcium which will exchange sodium from the soil. During the winter rainfall the latter is expected to be leached from the top soil. The hardpan will be distorted by deep ploughing and better water infiltration and salt leaching will be achieved. Continuous monitoring of soil moisture and salinity offers the advantage of controlled irrigation in order to maintain optimum conditions for the plants.
