Land use

Site 1

  • Grazing lands, degraded steppe of Stipa tenacissima. Stocking density 2-3 heads/ha.
  • Arboriculture (olive) with cereal intercropping (wet years). Tillage and sowing after first good rains and second tillage for weeding in March. No pesticide application. Harvest manually normally beginning of June (cereals) and November (olives). No fertilization. Supplemental irrigation in case of drought.

Site 2

  • Grazing lands, steppe of Stipa tenacissima. Stocking density 1.5-2 heads/ha.
  • Arboriculture (olive and other fruit trees) with cereal intercropping (wet years). Tillage and sowing after first good rains and second tillage for weeding in March. No pesticide application. Harvest manually normally beginning of June (cereals) and November (olives). Little fertilizer added. Supplemental irrigation in case of drought.

Site 3

  • Grazing lands. Steppe of Artemisia herba alba and Hammada scoparia. Stocking density 2-3 heads/ha.
  • Arboriculture (olive and other fruit trees) with cereal intercropping (wet years). Tillage and sowing after first good rains and second tillage for weeding in March. No pesticide application. Harvest manually normally beginning of June (cereals) and November (olives). No fertilization. Supplemental irrigation in case of drought.
