Population density and structure

The Boteti area is sparsely populated, with a population density estimated at about 1 person per square kilometer. The gender structure is slightly lopsided in favour of women (51% to 49%). However, there is much intra-regional variation. For instance, for Mopipi village the ratio is 59.8% women to 40.2% men. The age structure is skewed in favour of the population below 15 years which accounts for about 40% both at the sub-district level and at the study village level.
