Repeated measurements
After each rainfall event the following variables will be measured in all fields (erosion related measures will not be measured in field site B):
- Soil moisture of the upper soil layer (12 cm) with a mobile TDR in n points per plot (n to be determined once known the intrinsic variability of each plot) and from 6 to 12 hours after every rain event and at a fixed interval afterwards: 24 h, 48 h, 4 days, 8 days, 16 days, 32 days).
- In the Almond fields (Site A and B) soil moisture at 50 cm depth will be monitored with a permanently installed TDR connected to a data logger. Ten TDR sensors will be installed in each field site (A and B), evenly distributed over the subplots.
- Sediment yield in Gerlach troughs.
- Runoff discharge in Gerlach troughs and storage tanks.
- Erosion by laser scanning only after special events (a special event will be defined with either magnitude (> 20 mm) or maximum intensity (I5 > 60 mm h-1, I10 > 30 mm h-1, I30 or I60 > 20 mm h-1 ... to be defined once the climatological survey of the area will be completed).
