Soils

Soil type considerably changes from calcareous lithosols to windblown sands according to proximity to the western limestone ridge. Soil thickness may attain 55 cm in the case of windblown sands where silt and clay size components are almost absent. Lithosols are thinner (<25 cm) and have relatively coarser texture. Almost all soils have low fertility, particularly low organic content.
