Annual rainfall and seasonality

Long-term (1953-2006) annual precipitation is 284 mm mostly ranging between 250-350 mm. Precipitation occurs as snowfall (25-30 mm/month) between December and March and as rainfall (35 mm/month) in May and June. July, August and October are almost dry (see graph for long term seasonality). Evaporation ranges 1250-1500 mm annually. Precipitation is never enough to sustain crop product. For this reason groundwater use is non-stop from seedling period (late winter) to harvesting.
