It is in the continental monsoon climate region. The annual mean, maximum and minimum temperature are 9.4℃, 36.8℃ and -23.6℃ respectively. The mean annual precipitation is 567.1 mm. The precipitation varies greatly among different years and within each season. More than 60% precipitation is in flood season from June to September. Evaporation is up to 1600 mm annually. The great variation between years and seasons is the key risk for agriculture, and rain storms occurring mainly in summer can induce intensive soil loss.
