Major challenges to land resource management

The major challenge is the population growth and the fragility of the local ecosystems, characterized by a very dry and uncertain tropical climate and by a very vigorous relief. Despite the effort made up to now in soil and water conservation, the local setting together with the population growth makes the equilibrium very unstable.

NGOs, GOV and civil societies are working together in the land resource management to combat environmental degradation, especially through the reduction of poverty. It is believed that by reducing poverty, the pressure on natural resources will also decrease, decreasing environmental degradation.
